Doug & Dolly’s Cookies wasn’t born in a bakery — it was born in a moment of change.
After retiring from a 34-year career at General Motors, Doug found himself searching for what came next. At the same time, his husband Marc — a longtime restaurateur — was facing a deeply personal turning point, entering a 90-day alcohol recovery program in 2023.
While Marc was away, Doug did what he had always done in meaningful moments — he baked.
What started as a simple batch of cookies, rooted in recipes and traditions passed down from his Southern mother, became something more. When Marc returned home, they shared those cookies together — and instantly knew they had something special.
Within weeks, they began sharing them with others. The response was overwhelming.
By October 2023, Doug & Dolly’s made its debut at a Nashville market. Lines formed. Customers came back again and again. What began as a way to reconnect and rebuild had turned into something much bigger.
